More Than Just A Surfshop

Deets field testing a pair of UDTs

Part of the UDT story;

Dr. Greg Deets, a consummate waterman, honed his BodySurfing skills at the Wedge along with other obscure yet equally mutant waves year after year, winter runs to the NorthShore of Oahu, developed further an expertise in the extreme. With extreme riding comes extreme attention to detail.  Recognized world wide for his finesse and technical mastery of powerful & extremely challenging waves.
Add to his credit, the specific re-engineering of the UDT fin construction, achieving subtle yet profound changes to the new UDT fin, producing a quantum leap in function.

When it came to developing UDT Apparel,  Deets took the same approach,  extreme attention to detail. The standard branded BeefyT grade of  tee shirt is 6.1 oz, ringspun jersey knit, 100% cotton with taped neck. Most, that want a quality branded shirt, silkscreen their logo onto this grade of shirt blank.   Dr. Deets would have none of that.

He wanted a Super heavy-duty, absorbent shirt, that was durable enough, a real WaterMan would feel comfortable to put on right out of the water. So, Greg had these
shirts made with custom fabric,  loomed from bulk cotton into 9.5oz ringspun jersey knit material.   Insisted, that the fabric be prewashed for the correct fit and softness, right off
the shelf.   Demanded, that the sewing consist of double-needle top-stitching on collar, shoulders & sleeves, taped neck with a bound & ribbed crew neck along with double needle cover stitch on sleeve and bottom hem.
Adding to that,   he would not tolerate a silkscreened imprint,   so the new UDT logo design was embroidered on the front & right sleeve of this new UDT shirt. This shirt is so well made, we have to call it a CrewShirt!
